(ANS – Rome ) – On May 4, in the Sala Petrassi of the Parco della Musica auditorium, there will be the official presentation of the new film about Maria Domenica Mazzarello (1837-1881). “Maìn, Las casa della felicità” (Main, the house of joy) is the fruit of a communication project wanted by the Institute of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians and made possible by the contributions of all the FMA Provinces.
The Superior General of the FMA Madre Yvonne Reungoat, will be present for the event, as will the Rector Major of the Salesians, Fr. Pascual Chávez Villanueva, his Vicar Fr, Adriano Bregolin, some other members of the General Council and some Salesian Bishops. Some of the actors in the cast will also be there, led by the producer, Simone Spada.
The film makes use of professional actors and actresses and professional technical expertise, such as that of Alessandro Pesci , winner of the Silver Ribbon in 2011, who directed the photography.
“Maìn, La casa della felicità” is the second film about Maria Domenica Mazzarello, who with Don Bosco founded the Institute of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians. The first film, “Tralci di una terra forte” (Shoots from a fertile soil) was made in 1969 by Rolfilm and directed by Giuseppe Rolando. Sister Maria Pia Giudici contributed very substantially to this production. This new full-length film has another FMA protagonist, Sister Caterina Cangia, who vigorously promoted, followed and finalized the whole project.
During the production of the film Sister Cangia observed: “The decision of the Mother General and the Council was couragious one....the request for a new film seems to have come from people who live in close contact with us, who share our educative mission and who love Maria Domenica. Today it is urgent to communicate and to make people see, in a way which they understand, precisely that of the cinema, that we are safeguarding an extraordinary charism which today is in decline”.
Two other events will follow the presentation of May 4: May 13, in Mornese where Maria Domenica Mazzarello was born, lived and worked, and next day, May 14, in the Cinema Massimo of the Museo del Cinema (Museum of the Cinema)of Turin. From May 15 “Maìn, La casa della felicità” will be in the Italian cinemas, especially Parish cinemas.
Later the film will be made available in DVD, which should arrive in the FMA communities all over the world by August 5, the anniversary of the foundation of the Institute of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians. (August 5 1872). “Maìn, La casa della felicità” will dubbed into several lanuages, including French, English, Spanish, Portuguese Japanese, German, Polish and Vietnamese . It will be also subtitled in other languages.
