The winning teams at these 2010 Games, the XII in the series, were those from Moca, from the “Dominic Savio” Centre (DOSA) in La Vega, and the “Nuestra Señora de las Mercedes” Polytechnical School, which is a school of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians (FMA).
During the three days of competitions from Friday 23 to Sunday 25 April, the athletes from all parts of the country where in the “Juan Pablo Duarte” Olympic Centre in Santo Domingo competing in athletics, volley-ball, basket-ball, football, baseball –and chess.
According to Fr Pichardo, the National Salesian Games were a fine example of organisation and discipline for the sporting world of the Dominican Republic. Bringing together for three days over 7000 people, including athletes, coaches, ad volunteers was a real challenge and test of organisation. The Games demonstrated the great ability of the Salesians, who on a daily basis are engaged on behalf of the most needy youngsters in the Antilles, to gather them together and to focus on sport.
