|India – Salesians in South Asia draw up a Roadmap for Youth Ministry in the Region|
|India – Salesian Provincials’ Conference of South Asia|
(ANS – Madras) – On 13-15 February at the Salesian Provincial House, Madras (Chennai), India there was a meeting of the Salesian Provincial Conference of South Asia (SPCSA). The meeting, presided over by Fr. Maria Arokiam Kanaga, Regional Councillor for South Asia, was attended by 31 participants, including the 11 Provincials of the Region, the Delegates of the Provinces and those heading the various Commissions and Sectors of Salesian activities in the Region.
The meeting was held, at the Don Bosco Institute of Communication Arts and began with thought provoking input sessions by Mr. Leo Fernandez on ‘Leadership and Management of Human Resources’. Afterwards the SPCSA went on to share their reports of the implementation of the six-year plan of the Rector Major for South Asian Region and the resolutions of the Team Visit of the Rector Major and his Council last year.
Besides discussing various issues concerning the region, the assembly also spent considerable amount of time proactively reflecting about the contribution that it can make as a Region for GC 27. Other discussion followed on the impact of the journey of the relic of Don Bosco in India, religious discipline and accountability in the Provinces and further Regional level initiatives for networking. After the assembly, the SPSCA Council met to deliberate on the matters discussed during the assembly.
The meeting was meticulously planned and prepared by Fr. Noel Maddhichetty, the secretary of SPCSA. Fr. Jayapalan Raphael, the Provincial of Chennai and Fr. Antonyraj Chinnappan, the Vice Provincial, coordinated and facilitated the various events. The meeting was a great moment for animation and sharing of experiences as well as for strengthening inter-provincial networking and collaboration.
