(ANS - Ho Chi Minh City) - On 14 April Fr Pascual Chávez ended his visit to the "St John Bosco" Province of Vietnam with a meeting attended by about 200 Salesians from the various communities in the country.
In the course of the meeting the Rector Major expressed his thanks and gratitude for the work the Salesians were doing in Vietnam. Looking towards the future of the Province Fr Chávez referred to the new challenges arising from the social changes facing Vietnam. He pointed out to the assembled Salesians some attitudes to ensure fidelity to the identity of Salesian religious life in the sitiuation in Vietnam and to remaining faithful to the young: "being mystics, prophetic and ready to serve."
During his homily Fr Chávez returned to the topic of the evangelisation of the young, the core of the Salesian mission, and he concluded encouraging the Salesians present to continue to increase in quality and in numbers so as to able think in terms of a second Province in Vietnam.
