(ANS – Cusco) – On May 11 2012, at the Salesian House of Cusco, in the presence of various religious and civil authorities, the “Michele Magone” Hostel was inaugurated.
The ceremony began with Mass presided over by the Archbishop Cusco, Mons. Juan Antonio Pérez. The prelate said: “God works for the benefit of mankind through real people, like Don Bosco, and in particular for the good of the young, he makes practical use of the Salesian charism. The Salesians have done a lot of good for young people in the city of Cusco”.
Fr. Jesús Jurado Alarcón, the Rector of the centre, revealed that the house will accommodate 40 young people coming from higher secondary level , who from the Salesian house will continue their technical studies and will enjoy helpful conditions in which to build a better life.
Next, Fr. Santo Dal Ben, Provincial of the Salesians in Perù, thanked those who had contributed to the realization of the project, underlining that “the Salesians are dreamers, as Don Bosco was, and are determined to work for the poorest.“
The “Michele Magone” Hostel project is a response to the need to provide essential support to young people at physical and moral risk, and it reflects the Salesian mission to help the young people most in need.
