(ANS – Rome) – Yesterday, 14 June, the Rector Major, Fr Pascual Chávez, with the agreement of his Council appointed Fr Américo Raul Chaquisse Superior of the “Mary Help of Christians” Vice Province of Mozambique for the six year perìod 2012-2018.

Fr Chaquisse was born 23 February 1966 in Maputo. He made his novitiate in his native city and took  his first vows on 30 January 1986. After theological studies at Lubumbashi he was ordained priest at Maputo on 11 August 1996.

In the Vice Provice he has been: Vice Rector, Rector,  Economer and Councillor in “Casa Dom Bosco – Residência”, Headquarters of the Vice Province. In 2006 he was appointed Economer and Missionary Delegate for Mozambique.

Fr Chaquisse takes over from Fr Manuel Gómez Leal; the installation ceremony will take place at Maputo on Saturday 11 August at which the Regional Councillor for Africa–Madagascar, Fr Guillermo Basañes, will preside.
