| RMG – Report on the health of the Rector Major |
(ANS – Rome) – Late last night, 21 June, the Vicar of the Rector Major Fr Adriano Bregolin, issued a short statement.
Thanks be to God, since the Feast of Mary Help of Christians the Rector Major has made a good recovery. The following is the medical bulletin issued by the specialist concerned, Prof. Antonio Grieco (Gemelli Hospital in Rome), dated 21 June 2012:
“The clinical picture which the specialist has received today confirms a full recovery, in both functional and anatomical terms, from the temporary neurological damage which the Rector Major, Fr Pascual Chavez, suffered on 12 May 2012. Appropriate medical treatment and periodical frequent checks will now continue. At the moment the hepatitis problem can be considered of secondary importance.”
The Rector Major, who at present is presiding over the work of the General Council, is pursuing his daily duties in the normal way. He only needs a more calm rhythm of work and suitable times for rest.
A special thank you to all the Confreres, the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians, members of the Salesian Family, friends of Don Bosco and the young people who with affection have remembered him in their prayers in these days.
I ask everyone to continue to pray for his full recovery. I am very pleased therefore to be able to give you this “good news” today.
