(ANS – Rome) – Reassured by the latest information on the health of the Rector Major, the community of the Generalate is preparing to celebrate 24 June, the solemnity of St John the Baptist, the nameday of Don Bosco and the feastday of his successor.
A simple programme is planned for Sunday 24 June. At 11.30 the Rector Major will preside at the Community Mass; in the afternoon there will be an Academy with a short concert by the young musician Stefano Mhanna and the reading brief extracts from the writings of the successors of Don Bosco, followed by a festive supper. Among the various guests will be some Provincials, representatives of the Council of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians as well as Mother Yvonne Reungoat, the Rectors of some communities in Rome and the Rector Magnificus of the UPS, Fr Carlo Nanni.
Another novelty will be launched by Fr Chávez, the first tweet of ANS which on 24 June will begin its first daily appearance on the well-known social network. “For us it represents a further step in our involvement in the media world, in particular in our presence of the courtyards of the digital continent.” Fr Filiberto González, Councillor for Social Communication remarks. “The start of the ANS twitter channels in these days is a mark of respect to the successor of Don Bosco who never loses an opportunity to be with his confreres and the young.”
The first tweet is timed for Sunday 24 June at 10.00 (GMT+2) on the ANS channel in English.
The Salesians, members of the Salesian Family and the young people who once gathered round Don Bosco in Valdocco to say thank you, over the years have increased in numbers and now are to be found in 132 countries. They too express their gratitude: thank you Fr Chávez.
