(ANS - Łódź) – On 14 and 15 May, the Salesian Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences organised an Academic Congress to examine certain issues regarding economics, politics and the international market system in the light of Salesian educational insights.

About 300 people including academic staff and students took part in the event planned to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the founding of the Salesian Congregation.

Among those present were Bishop Adamo Lepa, auxiliary bishop of Łódź, the Hon. Jacek Saryusz-Wolski, in charge of the Commission for International Affairs of the European Parliament, Wladimiro Tomaszewski, Deputy Mayor of Łódź, the Hon. Michał Seweryński, former Minister for Higher Education and a considerable number of academic officials from various Polish Universities.

Fr Enrico dal Covolo, Postulator General of the Salesian Family, gave the academic address entitled: “The commitment of the Salesian Congregation to social progress, yesterday and today.”

The Salesian Faculty in Łódź, which began in 1996, now has 350 students and about forty staff, and is recognised for the high level of its academic teaching and research. The setting up of a parallel faculty in Educational Psychology is in the process of development.
