Also present at the meeting were the Regional Councillor Fr Andrew Wong, the Councillor for the Missions, Fr Klement Václav and, during the first few days, the Councillor for Formation, Fr Francesco Cereda, who has now gone on to the formation community of Nakasi at Suva, in the Island of Fiji, in the Australian Province (AUL).
Like all such meetings this one had a full agenda. Half way between the 26th General Chapter (GC26) and the next one in 2014, the meeting was a follow up to the GC26, especially as in these days many of the Provinces in the Region are holding their Provincial Chapters or else are in the process of preparing for them or pursuing their objectives.
Another item was that of reflection the vocation of the Salesian Brother. The Provincials considered a wide range of possibilities including that of sharing their formation with the South Asia Region and that of setting up a specific centre within the AEO Region, at Manila, as well as the creation of a special Formation Team for this purpose.
The Provincials also considered the questions of: Delegates for Schools and Formation Centres for the years (2011-2013); the journey round the Region of the casket of Don Bosco’s relic, (a subject that has also to bear in mind the necessary sensitivities regarding relics and statues); and the International Meeting on Don Rua, to be held in Rome in October 2010.
