| Kenya – 25 years of “Don Bosco Boys Town” |
The Techno-Expo 2010 was officially opened by Prof. Henry Moses Thairu, the Vice-Chancellor of “Inooerero University” of Nairobi on the morning of Friday 16th July 2010. Prof Henry Thairu in his address to the staff, students and guests told them to keep three Ps in mind for progress: Perspiration, Persuasion and Perseverance. He also gave the example of Mr. Kinuthia, the founder of Nice & Lovely who began his business in a humble way.
Fr. Babu Augustine SDB, the out-going Director welcomed the gathering and Fr. Paul Felix, the in-coming Director blessed the people and the Techno-Expo 2010.
All the items displayed are produced by the staff and students of Don Bosco Boys’ Town. The Turning Department had a home-made sanding machine, wood lathe and many other hand tools. The Tailoring department displayed several styles of dress. The electrical department displayed several homemade gadgets. The masonry/plumbing department had a beautiful house built. The carpentry and welding departments displayed several types of furniture. Finally the motor vehicle mechanics showed how the department maintains vehicles. The secretarial department not only displayed the work they do as secretaries but also they had a fashion show. The computer department also explained to the visitors how a computer work and how it is useful to us. The scouts too presented what they learn as scouts.
The Techno Expo continued on Saturday when all the parents of the students were expected. Already close to 2000 visitors including 17 schools have visited the Techno Expo 2010. Everyone was full of praise for Don Bosco Salesian Institute for the professionalism and seriousness in the training offered.
