(ANS – Hong Kong) – On May 5 and May 12 the Salesians of the “Mary Help of Christians” Province of China organized activities of vocational and pastoral reflection. Both of these events took place in the Tang King Po School of Hong Kong.

The first event was a day of vocational reflection for youngsters attending Salesian centres in Hong Kong. There were over 80 participants, inspired in their work by the figure of St. Dominic Savio, on the eve of his feast day.

After some ice-breaker  activities to create a fraternal and friendly atmosphere, the students of the  “Tang King Po”  school performed a short musical entitled “What is it you want? ”. This tells the story of a young graduate looking for his way in life and who, thanks to meeting with a Salesian priest, discovers that everyone has talents to offer to God. The Salesian student  Anthony Leung, who led the boys in the play, explained the meaning of the musical in this way:  “When you can use and properly develop your talent in daily life, gradually you come to know yourself better.  So you succeed in finding your aim and also the meaning of your life. Certainly, God will not leave us to walk alone and he will accompany us along the way. There are many people ready to help, encourage and support us.”

Then another Salesian student, Anhony Pun, spoke of the value of prayer in looking for one’s mission in life.   Fr.  Simon Lam, Provincial of China, underlined the same idea during the Mass which he presided over. The day ended with a football tournament between Salesians and boys.

On the following Saturday, May 12, there was a meeting for those engaged in Salesian Youth Pastoral. About 80 people attended, between Salesians , principals, educators, catechists and young people committed to helping other young people. The work was guided by the motto: “Know Don Bosco, love the young.”

The participants watched the video of the Strenna for 2012: “Let us make the young our life’s mission by coming to know and imitate Don Bosco”. Divided into groups, they then reflected on who were the most needy young people today, requiring our prime attention. Aimless young people, those with learning difficulties and doubting Christians were the social sectors identified.

The activities concluded with a final reflection by Fr. Andrew Fung, Vice-Provincial, and the entrustment to Mary Help of Christians of all the coming commitments.
