(ANS – Valencia) – On May 21 the Salesian Cardinal Oscar Andrés Rodríguez Maradiaga, President of Caritas Internationalis and archbishop of Tegucigalpa, met with the members of the Council of the “St. Joseph” Province of Spain-Valencia.
In view of the Feast of Mary Help of Christians, celebrated yesterday by the whole Salesian Congregation, May 24, Cardinal Maradiaga said: “the greatest treasure that the Lord could give to Don Bosco was Mary, Help of Christians. We are living in very difficult times, but Our Lady has this characteristic, to be mother of hope.
Speaking about the visit of the relic of Don Bosco, which from next October will go to the houses of Valencia, the archbishop of Tegucigalpa explained: “for Central America it was a rebirth of devotion to Don Bosco and I think it will be the same here. It would be well to give great publicity to the event among young people, because here Don Bosco is better known than in Central America and there are many Salesian past pupils.
He concluded: “We must continue to put our charism forward, because Don Bosco is always up to date, since there will always be young people and, sadly, there will always be poor young people.”
The Cardinal was in Valencia for the celebration at the weekend of the 5th meeting of the Immigrant Families with Our Lady of the Homeless and to give a conference to the Catholic University of Valencia entitled “Ethics and business: opposition or possible dialogue?”
