(ANS – Rome) – Having heard the opinion of the General Council, the Rector Major has appointed for a period of six years 2012-2018 Fr Francisco Alves de Lima as the new Superior of the  “Saint Dominic Savio” Province of Brazil Manaus.

Fr Francisco Alves de Lima was born on 8 October 1966 at Quixeló, in Brazil. He made his novitiate at Candeias do Jamari, and took his first religious vows on 31 January 1990. He made his perpetual profession at Colle Don Bosco on 15 September 1996, and on 13 December 1997 he was ordained priest in Manaus.

In the “Saint Dominic Savio” Province he has been Rector and Economer in several houses, then Delegate for Formation, for Youth Ministry, Economer and Delegate for Social Communication and Vice Provincial.

Fr Alves de Lima succeeds Fr Benjamín Morando who died unexpectedly on 5 May. The date of his installation will be announced shortly.
