The Solomon Islands - The first community of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians
(ANS – Honei: 15 Febrary 2007) - On 16 January the first three Daughters of Mary Help of Christians arrived in Honei to open their first community in the Solomon Islands. Sr. Sialei Taofinou, Sr. Anna Maria Gervasoni and Sr. Sonia Murari, accompanied by the Provincial Sr. Edna Mary MacDonald, were welcomed at the airport by Mgr. Adrian Thomas Smith, archbishop of Honiara, and Fr Luciano Capelli, Rector of the Salesian community. The new community of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christinas is called after “Mamma Margaret”. The sisters, joining the Salesians and the other religious communities in the diocese, will collaborate in putting all their efforts into the re-evaluation of the education of the young.
