Malmesbury, South Africa – May 2013 – From 10 to 12 May, eleven young people from St Anthony of Padua parish  took part in a retreat led  by Salesian Brother Clarence Watts. They were given talks on the gifts of the Holy Spirit and on different images of Jesus, and a guided meditation on aspects of the faith. They will be confirmed on 29 June.

San Antonio de los Altos, Venezuela – April 2013 – From 26 to 28 April, 81 young animators of the Salesian Youth Movement gathered at the “House of the Young” in San Antonio de los Altos, together with a group of  young Daughters of Mary Help of Christians and Salesians in formation. A workshop and seminar for the formation of “Young People Accompanying Young People” was conducted by Fr Miguel Ángel García from the Department of Youth Ministry. They studied the youth situation and how to be “angels on earth”, not letting young people become part of the crowd in today’s world. The workshop consisted of six modules: introduction; biblical models of accompaniment; the person who accompanies; the stages of accompaniment;  spiritual accompaniment of young people according to Don Bosco and the relevance today of the Educative System of Don Bosco for the accompaniment of adolescents.
San Francisco, United States – May 2013 – On 10 and 11 May, Fr Esteban Ortíz,  Councillor for the Inter-American Region, concluded the Extraordinary Visit of the St Andrew Province of the Western United States. There were three meetings: one with the Directors to analyse the situation in the communities and reflect on their ministry of animation and government; one with more than 50 Salesians at which he presented the final report on the visitation; and one with the Provincial Council. This third one was attended also by newly appointed Provincial Councillors who will assume office next July. “In all its works the Province is offering a significant service to immigrants, especially in the Boys and Girls Clubs, daily oratories for the poor young people of the suburbs of Los Angeles and Richmond” said Fr Ortiz.
Toronto, Canada – 1May 2013 – On 1 May in the Church of St Benedict, about 800 students from  St. Benedict Elementary School, St. Stephen Elementary School and Monsignor Percy Johnson High School welcomed the Cross of the Year of Faith. The Cross, which was made by the students, will go on pilgrimage for two years to the Catholic schools of Toronto. After a service of hymns and prayers, a group of the students gave witness to their faith by carrying the Cross for 2 km before handing it over to representatives of the students of the next school to be visited.
