Bonn, Germany – 5 July 2012 – Last Thursday 27 young people completed the formation process  prior to undertaking, starting next September, a year of Voluntary Service in various Salesian works in the Philippines, Cambodia, Zambia, Malawi, Togo, Ivory Coast, Swaziland, Kenya, Perù, Columbia, Argentina and Bolivia. In the special Mass Fr Stefan Stöhr SDB Provincial Delegate for Youth Ministry reminded the young people that the most important things for their  mission would be a readiness to serve, a openness to what is new and a spirit of sacrifice: “Trust in God and go on your way.”  25 other young people will be beginning the process of formation for Voluntary Missionary Service next September at the Salesian Centre in Benediktbeuern.

Valparaíso, Chile – 19 May 2013 – On 19 May, about 3,000 people accompanied 400 students of the Salesian College, Valparaíso in  a march in honour of Mary Help of Christians and of the Marines. The cortege was accompanied by several bands. Among the participants were the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians, the religious community, directors, teachers and parents.
Stony Point, United States – 18 May 2013 – On 18 May, the Salesian Family of the Eastern Province of the United States organized a Marian Day at the Marian Shrine of Haverstraw-Stony Point. Fr James Heuser led the lectio divina, reflection and prayer.  Fr Thomas Dunne, Provincial of the Eastern Province of the United States, presided at the Eucharistic Celebration in the presence of Salesians, Daughters of Mary Help of Christians, Salesian Co-operators and the faithful.  The day ended when the huge statue of Our Lady of the Rosary was crowned with the help of local firemen.
Sassone, Italy – May 2013 – During the meeting of the National Council of Past Pupils of Don Bosco, held in Sassone from17 to 19 May, the new President, Giancarlo Colombo announced that Doctor Valerio Domenico Martorana is the new Editor of Voci Fraterne, the magazine of the Italian Federation of Don Bosco Past Pupils.  Doctor Martorano will sign his first editorial in the next issue in June, and in October will assume responsibility as Chief Editor of the magazine. It will take on a new editorial style from September 2013, with the inclusion of an insert from the Italian Past Pupils in the Italian Salesian Bulletin.
Palermo, Italia – 17 May 2013 – The Councillor for Culture, Francesco Giambrone, has awarded the honorary medal of the city of Palermo to the students of the Salesian  Institute of Don Bosco, Villa Ranchibile  for winning the 15th National Festival of Schools Theatre with their production of Sophocles’ Antigone. Last year the school took first prize with their production of Hecuba.  Councillor Giambrone expressed great appreciation for the achievement of the Don Bosco students on winning a national prize of great importance for two consecutive years.
