Hungary - The urn with the relics: Don Bosco a model of Salesian Holiness

(ANS – Veszprem) – Last Friday 17 May, the urn with the relics of Don Bosco entered Hungary, accompanied by the Salesians and Daughters of Mary Help of Christians of Slovenia. There was huge interest and great participation, especially among the young people who saw Don Bosco as a model of holiness.

Haiti - Third “Bosco-Culture” Exhibition (ANS – Port-au-Prince) – The Combined Salesian Youth Ministry Commission of Haiti (formed jointly by the Salesians and the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians) organized the third Bosco-Culture Exhibition from 17 to 19 May. More than300 young people took part from the various works of the Salesians and FMA in the country.

Morocco - 75 years of Salesian work at Kenitra (ANS – Kenitra) – The Salesian work at Kenitra is celebrating these days its 75 years in existence. The first Salesians led by Fr Leon Beissiere, arrived in the city in 1937. Kenitra is about 30 km north of Rabat. Then it was just a small town. Now it has 800,000 inhabitants.

Equador - ESEMTIA: a Technological Innovation at the service of Salesian Educational Centres (ANS – Cuenca) – The Salesian province of Ecuador, through the Salesian National Council for Education (CONESA) and the communications company Edibosco-LNS have signed an agreement to begin a Digital Pedagogical Project called ESEMTIA. The signing ceremony took place on Monday 13 May at the Miguel Merchán Gymnasium of the Salesian Technical Training Centre in Cuenca.

Portugal - Salesian publishers meet at Porto (ANS – Porto) – On 13-14 May, Salesian Publishers from Europe met at Porto. The meeting was organized by those in charge of the publishing companies and presided over by the Councillor for Social Communications, Fr Filiberto González. The publishers represented were the “Edições Salesianas” from Portugal, “Central Catequistica Salesiana” from Spain, “Don Bosco Publications” from Britain, “Elledici” from Italy and “Don Bosco Medien” from Germany.

Italy - Fr Adolfo Nicolás new President of the Union of Superiors General (ANS – Rome) – The Superior General of the Society of Jesus, Fr Adolfo Nicolás, is the new President of the Union of Superiors General (USG). This was made known last Friday in a communication from USG.
