Thus Fr Wagner Luis Galvão, SDB, Delegate for Youth Ministry in the Salesian Province of Brazil-Campo Grande, presented the significance of this dynamic Salesian program, aimed at young people and members of the Salesian Family who wish to live an experience of faith and joy through contact with Nature and the indigenous Xavantes and Bororo peoples.

Mgr. Protógenes José Luft, bishop of Barra do Garças, officially opened the Diocesan Inquiry on the life, martyrdom, and signs of the Servants of God: Rodolfo Lunkenbein, Professed Priest of the Society of St. Francis of Sales, and the indigenous Simone Cristiano Koge Kudugodu, known as Simão Bororo, lay person.
(ANS - Meruri) – On January 31, in Meruri, the diocese of Barra do Garças, Brazil, opens the diocesan inquiry into the martyrdom of the Servants of God Fr Rodolfo Lunkenbein, Salesian priest, and Simão Bororo, a layman, killed on July 15, 1976, in the courtyard of the Salesian mission of Meruri. Their cause of martyrdom is a living sign that God has blessed the Congregation and the Church with His love and grace, especially in Brazil.

Protógenes José Luft, SdC, bishop of Barra do Garças (Brazil), the Holy See's approval for the cause of martyrdom of the Servants of God, Salesian priest Rodolfo Lunkenbein, and Simão Bororo, layperson, both killed in hatred for the faith on 15 July 1976 in the Salesian mission of Meruri (Mato Grosso - Brazil), two men who gave their lives for God, the people, land rights, prophets of the Kingdom, defenders of the poor.
(ANS - São Marcos) - "A nation or a church who forget their martyrs do not deserve to survive," wrote Bishop Pedro Casaldaliga, bishop of the poor. The Bororo - a population that has had two martyrs, Fr Rodolfo Lunkenbein, SDB, and their indigenous brother Simão - do not want to forget them and indeed, they do not forget them. On Sunday 2 April, a large number of faithful and friends held a procession (romaria) to the place where the two martyrs shed their blood for their people when they were killed.

(ANS - Campo Grande) - Forty years ago, the land of the Bororo saw one of its favourite sons shed his blood. As a young man recalls: "Fr Rudolf saved our people and our land. He loved children and fought for us when we were running a great risk of losing our land, our culture, our lives and our dreams." He died defending his people, killed by landowners in the Meruri mission, of which he was Rector. "When Simão Bororo saw the weapons he went directly to Fr Rudolf and stood in the middle, dying to defend his friend, the priest." On 15 July the 40th anniversary of their martyrdom was celebrated in Meruri.
Meruri, Brazil - June 2016 - In June, some young people from the Salesian parish of "São Gonçalo" went on a missionary visit to Meruri, to the Salesian mission among the ethnic Bororo Indians. The young people were able to learn the story of the martyrs of Meruri, Fr Rodolfo Lunkenbein, SDB, and Simão Cristino Koge Ekudugodu, himself a Bororo. They went through the Holy Door for the Jubilee of Mercy, and carried out various social activities with the indigenous children and young people.
