Italy - On June 20, World Refugee Day, the Salesians present reception paths

(ANS - Rome) - In 2016, 25,846 unaccompanied minors landed in Italy: 1 migrant in 6 was a minor traveling alone. For their part, the Salesians with the SCS - Salesian Social Federation - have activated 12 services for 207 unaccompanied minors, 6 services for the reception of refugees, which have reached 262 people. In addition, there were 14 Italian language training services for 677 beneficiaries and 4 services for job placement projects for 96 people.

On the occasion of World Refugee Day taking place  tomorrow, 20 June, the Salesians in Italy will present, at the Sacro Cuore Institute in Rome, a number of stories of reception, integration and redemption of these young people, telling how Don Bosco's preventive system in Italy implements concrete actions into what are diversified and complementary paths and projects offering the young refugee a simultaneous and gradual response: reception, integration and social inclusion, and steps leading to independence.

These are actions that are carried out on a daily basis in the territories and they are coordinated at the national level by officially recognized offices and bodies: Salesians for the Social - SCS/CNOS Federation, which deals with the reception of children in different family houses and day centers; CNOS/FAP that prepares personalized vocational training modules for refugee inclusion and autonomy; Cnos-School, active in offering primary literacy and schooling, while Parishes and Youth Oratory Centers act as lively workshop centers offering "light reception" and inclusive initiatives via sports, aggregation and cultural activities; CGS and TGS, and their proposals with - and for - refugees through projects linked to communication, respect for the environment, youth and social tourism.

The appointment is for June 20 at 11 AM at the Sala Don Bosco of the Istituto Sacro Cuore in Via Marsala 42 in Rome.
