(ANS - Rome) - "Volunteer experiences and sustainability practices, inside and / or outside the Salesian University College". This was the theme on which the representatives of the Salesian University Colleges (CUS) of Italy focussed during their meeting, held at the Salesian Headquarters in Rome, from 26 to 28 June.

The event was attended by the heads of 14 CUS, coordinated by the national director, Fr Carlo Busana.

On the first day the presentation of each CUS took place: considering the specific theme of the meeting, the dimensions of volunteering and sustainability were the points at the center of sharing, through the presentation of experiences and good practices. Subsequently, Fr Claudio Belfiore, outlined the guiding theme of the PG for the 2018-19 pastoral year.

Many the significant meetings on the second day. The Rector Major, Fr Ángel Fernández Artime, spoke at the meeting. He emphasized the importance of pastoral work carried out in the CUS and urged that the "family spirit" be cultivated in them, ever more and more and better. Then it was Fr Fabio Attard, General Councilor for Youth Ministry who, in addition to presiding at Mass in the "rooms of Don Bosco", confirmed the educational action carried out by the CUS and the closeness of the Congregation in this work. Then Fr Rossano Sala illustrated the Instrumentum Laboris of the Synod on young people, focusing in particular on the chapters concerning university accompaniment.

In the afternoon, Fr Martin Lasarte, from the Missions Sector, discussed the theme of volunteering, while Fr Marcelo Farfán, General Coordinator of the Salesian Institutions of Higher Education (IUS), outlined the guidelines for youth ministry in the IUS.

Finally, on the third day, after the Eucharist presided over by Cardinal Camillo Ruini, former President of the CEI, Dr. Angelo Giornelli, President of the "Association of Colleges and University Residences" (ACRU) outlined the aims of the association and the support it intends to reserve for the educational and legal management of university colleges.

The conference then concluded with the proposals and the planning of the future path.

According to the framework of the Salesian Youth Ministry, the CUS "not only offer university students a space to live and study, but above all a formation proposal that allows them to grow as people, professionals and citizens" (QRPG, 2.3. 3.B).
