Rosario, Argentina - October 2023 - A new meeting of the National Mallinist Movement Animation Team a group operating within the Salesian Youth Movement (SYM), was held on 28 and 29 October. Accompanying the young representatives of the various areas where the Movement is present were the Youth Ministry Delegates of the Provinces of Argentina North (ARN), Fr Alejandro Garzón and Argentina South (ARS), Fr Agustin Camiletti. The space helped in the reflection and discernment of the central aspects of the life of the Movement. The Mallinista Movement celebrates 60 years of presence in the Salesian Youth Movement of Argentina, and celebrates the richness of sharing and work that accompanies the young people of Argentina.

Cordoba, Argentina – October 2023 –  Under the motto "Discerning the times and bearing witness to our social commitment", the Past Pupils of Don Bosco America Congress began on 19 October, organised in the city of Cordoba by the Argentine National Federation of Past Pupils, in collaboration with the World Confederation of Past Pupils of Don Bosco. The Congress focused on the theme of synodality and how Past Pupils can be agents of social transformation in the Americas, and saw the participation of Presidents, Delegates and Past Pupils from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Guatemala, Haiti, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay, Peru and the United States. Also present for the occasion were Eduardo Pessoa Cavalcante, Vice-President of the World Confederation and Councillor for the Americas; Carlos Marquina, Regional Councillor for America for Young Past Pupils (GEX); Valerio Martorana, Councillor for Europe and the World Confederation of Past Pupils of Don Bosco; Bro. Dominic Duc Nam Nguyen, SDB, World Delegate for Past Pupils of the Salesians of Don Bosco; Fr. Joan Lluís Playà, Central Delegate of the Rector Major for the Secretariat for the Salesian Family; and Mr. Peter Kováč, SDB, Secretary General of the Confederation. There were four days of dialogue, listening and reflection, which also offered the opportunity to present proposals and projects for the Region and to plan the next meetings, establishing priorities for future years.

Buenos Aires, Argentina - October 2023 - From 15 to 19 October, the Meeting of the Provincial Delegates for the Salesian Family (SF) of the America South Cone Region took place. Convened by Fr Joan Lluís Playà, Central Delegate of the Rector Major for the Secretariat for the Salesian Family, the meeting aimed to: share and reflect on the reality of the Salesian Family in the Region, the synodal service of animation and accompaniment, deepen the contribution that the charismatic identity of the SF is called to offer to the world, reflect on the renewed relationship with Youth Ministry and live an experience of communion and spirituality to strengthen the shared mission and formation. About 40 people including Salesians, Daughters of Mary Help of Christians, and other religious and lay representatives of the SF groups present in the Region participated. The meeting was full of joy, family spirit and Salesian spirituality. The members sought to know and share the experiences of the different Provinces and groups within them. There were also specific moments to get to know some of the smaller SF groups, which further enriched the experience of the representatives. After some moments of formation and sharing, the participants produced a series of lines of action to be applied, as far as possible, to the realities of the Provinces. The meeting became a highlight for the animation of the Provinces and will surely bear good fruit for the mission of the SF  in America South Cone Region.

(ANS - Buenos Aires) - From Sunday 8 to Thursday 12 October, the first meeting of those responsible for the Network of Salesian Professional Training Centres (ITIs) in America was held. The meeting was held at the Ramos Mejía retreat house, in Buenos Aires, and was led by Fr Claudio Cartes SDB, Delegate for Salesian CFPs in the continent, together with his team.

(ANS – Santa Rosa) – The Secretariat of Tourism of the Province of La Pampa, Argentina, has launched a new initiative: "The Way of Fr Buodo and the Salesians in La Pampa". It is a series of videos and promotional brochures dedicated to religious tourism, which highlight the places of pilgrimage in the Province, inspired by the paths taken by the Sons of Don Bosco who evangelised and educated the population of the area.

Buenos Aires, Argentina - September 2023 - On 29 September, the Salesian Pio IX house in Almagro received a visit from one of its former students, Engineer Miguel San Martín, who has been working for NASA for years as a key part of the Mars mission. San Martín, accompanied by his wife Susan, shared a moment of dialogue with the students in the courtyard, gave a lecture and visited the house to which he always likes to return. He emphasised that the time he spent in the Salesian house marked his life not only because of the educational excellence he received, but also because of the relationships and friendships he still maintains today. As a message to the young people, he said: “You have to have faith that if you work hard for something you enjoy and that society needs, opportunities will be given to you. And enjoy the process.”
