(ANS - Rome) - Remembering Saint Domenico Savio in this special year that the Church dedicates to young people is significant because not only was he a model and an example for his companions at the Valdocco oratory, but he also knew how to embody the role of a team captain or leader, a sort of teacher in the ways of God (as Don Bosco also saw him in the dream of Lanzo in 1876). The confirmation of this comes from the life of various Blesseds, Venerables and Servants of God who made the proposals of Domenico their own: Laura Vicuña, Zephirino Namuncurà, Giuseppe Kowlaski, Alberto Marvelli, Giuseppe Quadrio, Ottavio Ortiz Arrieta.

This inscription is recorded on the wall of the room where the saint died.

RMG - Fr Rossano Sala: young people ask for a Church that listens, that welcomes, that is alive and authentic
(ANS - Rome) - In a long and profound interview Fr Rossano Sala, SDB, Special Secretary of the Synod of Bishops, spoke to us about the situation of youth, the Church and the next Synod, clearly illustrating the need to listen to the world of young people. The theme of the forthcoming Synod closely examines the Salesians, who live for the young, and interrogates and invites them to live this experience as children of a saint who, with the young, knew how to live a relationship of trust, friendship and familiarity.
Italy - New eyes and new words to see and narrate the banlieues
(ANS - Rome) - The banlieue, inner-city, or periphery as a space, as a dimension, the periphery, above all, as a lively and vital reality, and not simply a catalyst of social problems and degradation. Because "reality is better seen from the periphery," as Pope Francis said, who has brought the theme of the banlieues into the magisterium of the Church. From this point of view, on March 10th, at the Salesian Pontifical University in Rome, a formation course was held entitled: "Narrating the peripheries: positive observations, constructive words."
Argentina - At the oratory we are demonstrating ... that change is possible, Amarrando Redes de Solidaridad
(ANS - Córdoba) - In Argentina the Salesians offer assistance to thousands of children and young people in vulnerable situations. In recent years the Sons of Don Bosco have engaged in a typically Salesian project entitled: "Amarrando Redes de Solidaridad" (Connecting Networks of Solidarity) which, faced with a selfish and individualistic culture, wants to prod open "a new culture of solidarity."
