(ANS - Zgharta) - Don Bosco is so alive and appealing even today that it sometimes arrives where its Salesians have not yet gone. In 1998, a young man from the parish of Zgharta, in the north of Lebanon, read a book by Don Bosco and, seeing the boys of his parish playing in the street, he wanted to start applying that Don Bosco Preventive System he had learned from the book. Over time, many young people and entire families got involved, thus creating a true Salesian environment in the area. This year the community, for the first time, and thanks to the intervention of the parish priest and the bishop, celebrated the Feast of Don Bosco with the Salesians of the community of El Houssun, Lebanon.
(ANS - Rome) - In response to the statement issued by the President of the Italian Republic, Sergio Mattarella, on the occasion of the 130th anniversary of the death of St John Bosco, the Rector Major of the Salesians, Fr Ángel Fernández Artime, whose Succeeds him, sent a letter expressing the renewed commitment to keep alive the teaching of the Saint of Youth and to collaborate in building the spirit of "brotherhood, solidarity and cohesion."
(ANS - Rome) - The Rector Major, Fr Ángel Fernández Artime, is right when he reiterates that Don Bosco and his charism are not just the patrimony of the Salesian Family alone, but of the whole of humanity. Further proof, these past few days, from the many tributes paid to the Saint of Youth by people of every background and context.
(ANS - Madrid) – These days, the Salesian Family is preparing for the celebration of the feast of its founder, St. John Bosco (1815-1888), on January 31st. Over 650 Salesian centers in Spain continue their work today in favor of the young, especially the neediest. Some 188,000 young people attend different Salesian centers where they receive education, technical training and values, which are provided by 1,635 Salesians and Daughters of Mary Help of Christians (FMA) plus 14,500 educators and collaborators.

Spain - Don Bosco's Preventive System relives in the film "Wonder"
(ANS - Madrid) - The film "Wonder", the story of little Auggie Pullman, a child with a facial deformation who faces the challenge of attending a public school for the first time, arrived in cinemas this past December.
During the film, which deals with the delicate issue of scholastic bullying, there is a clear resemblance to the Preventive System of Don Bosco and these ten sentences of the founder of the Salesians are proof of this.
