Rome, Italy - June 28, 2019 - Friday, June 28, 2019, the Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, the procession of the statue of the Sacred Heart took place on the main streets of the city of Rome. Accompanying her was Cardinal Giuseppe Versaldi, Prefect of the Congregation for Catholic Education and titular cardinal of the Basilica of the Sacred Heart, who blessed the faithful and places close to the basilica built by Don Bosco himself.
Fuerte Olimpo, Paraguay - August 16, 2017 – To celebrate the 202th anniversary of Don Bosco's birth, the "Don Bosco" chapel of the Fuerte Olimpo district organized a procession in honor of its patron. Salesian Bishop Mons. Gabriel Escobar, bishop of the Apostolic Vicariate of Chaco Paraguayo, also participated in the festivities.
Macas, Ecuador – 19 November 2016 - Over 1800 students from the "Fiscomisional Don Bosco" Educational Unit, along with their families and many of the faithful, joined in prayer to greet Our Lady Purissima di Macas in a procession through the streets of the city of Macas, which ended with a Eucharistic celebration.
Togo, Gbodjome August 2016- The Novice Master Fr. Paul Wogomebou, presented 16 candidates for Salesian life, who made their profession on 16 August. Seven of the new Salesians belong to the AFO Province and 9 to the ETA Province. The celebration was presided over by Father José Mariza, Provincial of AFO, surrounded by Salesians who had come for the occasion.
Santa Julia, Mexico - August 2016 - On 16 August in commemoration of the 201st anniversary of the birth of Don Bosco, in the Mary Help of Christians Shrine in Santa Julia, six young novices from the Vice-Province of Haiti and the Mexican Provinces (MEM and MEG) made their first profession. The MEM Provincial, Fr Gabino Hernández, presided over the celebration together with Fr Hugo Orozco (Provincial MEG) and Fr Ducange Sylvain, Superior of Haiti. Many Salesians and young people were present.
Breña Lima, Peru – 16 August 2016 - To celebrate the 201st anniversary of the birth of Don Bosco, the Salesian Family, with the members of the parish of Mary Help of Christians and students of the St Francis de Sales Salesian School, processed through the populous neighbourhood of Brena carrying the statue of the Saint of Youth.

(ANS - Turin) - It was 11 November 1875 when Don Bosco blessed the first Salesian missionaries, led by Fr Giovanni Cagliero, with Patagonia as their destination. From Argentina, the Spiritual Sons of Don Bosco expanded to the most northern states of Latin America, where they are still an important presence in the missions in the Amazon. And today, the Rector Major confirms and re-launches the Salesian efforts towards the education of the native youth "so that they serve their people and do not abandon it".
150th Missionary Expedition, "If it's not outgoing, it's not Church"
In 1875, Don Bosco gathered around him a group of ten young people who were about to cross the Atlantic, a journey that for some would be without return. It was 4.00 pm, the shrine of Mary Help of Christians was full of people. At the foot of the image of Mary Help of Christians, Don Bosco greeted the young people soon departing with tears. He gave everyone a gift, a leaflet with "twenty special memories", memories of a father to those about to leave before the final embrace, writes Fr Ceria, symbol of his deep affection.
The Philippines – Papal Nuncio at 30th Anniversary of Word & Life: “Don Bosco is Present in Word & Life”
(ANS – Manila) – At the 30th Anniversary of the Catholic publisher, the Apostolic Nuncio to the Philippines, His Excellency, Archbishop Gabriele Caccia, said that “Don Bosco is, in a way, present in ‘Word & Life Publications’”. St. John Bosco, the Founder of the Salesians, heeded the call of Jesus to help people know him and go to him. In the same way, the Papal Nuncio explained, “‘Word & Life Publications’ has, as its origin, this desire that people can know Jesus, that people can go to Jesus to find consolation, to find hope, strength, courage, guidance, and inspiration.”
United States – Salesian Missions highlights feeding programs around the globe that ensure students have healthy diets
(ANS – New Rochelle) – “Salesian Missions”, the U.S. development arm of the Salesians of Don Bosco, joins the international community and organizations around the globe in honoring World Food Day. Feeding programs in Burundi, Cambodia, East Timor and Uganda illustrate the work of Salesians around the globe that support this year’s theme, which is focused on healthy diets. Celebrated each year on Oct. 16, the day was established to bring attention to the plight of the world’s hungry and undernourished while providing an opportunity for a deeper understanding of the complex solutions for ending hunger. It is also a chance for the international community to show its commitment to Sustainable Development Goal 2, to achieve Zero Hunger by 2030.
