(ANS - Lisbon) - In Europe with its national borders and nationalist claims there are some who take the first step spontaneously to meet refugees who have fled from war and poverty. This is the case in Portugal. Through its government agencies it has indicated its willingness to help the European countries most affected by migration by accepting migrants. The Salesian Family is part of the network of organizations involved in this work of humanitarian assistance.
(ANS - Bukavu) - The journalist D. Snow once called Congo "a country cursed by its wealth." "The Second Congo War, called 'the Great War of Africa', sucked in military and civilians from nine countries". In the town of Bukavu, on the shores of Lake Kivu, in the Democratic Republic of Congo, the Salesians have a professional school for street children and poor youth.
(ANS - Sana'a) - The Salesian Family continues to follow with great attention the situation of Father Tom Uzhunnalil, kidnapped in Aden on 4 March. But he is not the only one who is suffering in Yemen. It is a country that has been sorely tested for the past 16 months of war. It was a civil war at first. Then came the bombing of a Saudi-led coalition. The conflict is assuming frightening proportions and the most affected are, as usual, children: "Children are not safe anywhere in Yemen" said Julien Harneis, the Unicef representative in the Arab country.

We want to LISTEN to your desires, your expectations and your uncertainties!
They call us YOUTH experts. I do not know if we are experts, but one thing is certain: we Salesians have youth in our DNA since the moment Don Bosco dreamed of us, thought of us. Our identity is so tied to them that one cannot conceive a Salesian as being far away from young people.

South Korea – Youth Counselling & Welfare center in Chuncheon
(ANS – Chuncheon) – Within the fast changing and ageing society of South Korea one of the youth main needs is without doubt a counselling. Children and teenagers find very few people who listen to them both in their families as well in the highly competitive school education system. Also the increasing youth violence and suicide attempt rate in South Korea does foster need of more systematic and dedicated counselling center. Salesian Family members (especially SDB, FMA sisters and Salesian Cooperators) invested in past 15 year a lot of energies in this field.
MESSAGES OF THE RECTOR MAJOR
HAVING DEEP ROOTS, BEING FLEXIBLE, AND BEING RICH IN WHAT IS ESSENTIAL
I shall never forget the wise life lesson which the fir trees of the beautiful forest of Vallombrosa gave me. My cordial greetings, dear readers, and all the members of our dear Salesian Family. I wish to offer you a reflection that I made from a very concrete experience that I had recently – a lesson from nature.
