(ANS - Rome) - The 31st World Youth Day in Krakow, Poland (26 to 31 July 2016) is getting closer. The theme is: "Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy" (Mt 5,7). Its pastoral spirit and youthful joy make it a perfect fit with the World Day of the Salesian Youth Movement (SYM) which will be celebrated on July 27.

(ANS – Rome) – The Rector Major of the Salesians, Fr Ángel Fernández Artime SDB, will visit Belarus from 8 to 11 July. During his visit, the Rector wants first and foremost to meet and get acquainted with his Salesian Confreres from Belarus, to talk to them, hear the joys and concerns they meet in the implementation of the Salesian charism in Belarus and, of course, give some fatherly advice and support to his spiritual sons. Fr Ángel will also have an opportunity to get acquainted with the Salesian communities working in Belarus.

(ANS - San José) - In 1846 Don Bosco was present during the execution of a man condemned to death. Don Bosco had earlier heard his confession and given him communion. At the moment of execution Don Bosco lost consciousness and fainted. This experience marked his life and he decided to work to ensure that no young person would end up in jail. The world is full of risks and millions of young people are at risk, and if schools do not implement good projects, generations of young people will be lost.

MESSAGES OF THE RECTOR MAJOR

  • JESUS IN THE ARMS OF THE HUMBLE AND THE POOR

Jesus continues to save humanity through our work, our self-giving, our good will. He continues to point out the road to us lest we lose our bearings and our way, and we always assist those who are growing weary, the humblest, the poorest, the least.
