(ANS – Manta) – The expression “we cannot solve everything” resounds in the hearts of all those who watch the dreadful images of the earthquake in Ecuador. Even though it is not possible to do great things, “we can help in some way”. The post-seism reality is sad and devastating. Mr Marcelo Mejia, the Delegate for Social Communication of the Province of Ecuador, commented on the phone: “I am going to Manta. They asked us to bring masks, because of the sickening smell, due to the dead, the litter, the stagnant water”. We cannot remain indifferent, we must pray, the Pope asked, so that “the help of God and of brethren may give them strength and support”.

(ANS - Manta) - "The people we work for in the school and in the parish are passing through a time of sorrow and need. I invite everyone to have an attitude of solidarity in this Year of Mercy,” said Fr Jorge Molina, Provincial in Ecuador, after hearing of the situation of many people after the earthquake.

"We are a traveling species. We have no property, but luggage. (...)
We are alive because we are moving. We are never still.
We are transhumant (...) If you want something to die, leave it alone."
(Jorge Drexler, Movimiento, 2017)
Young people always move towards unprecedented possibilities, unsuspected futures. But beyond physical mobility and territorial displacement, young people show a great capacity for flux or change and mobilization in current societies, strengthened by new communication technologies, and networks.
