(ANS - Benediktbeuern) - More than 100 participants from various sectors of the Church's work for young people, of Catholic social work and pastoral work for education in Germany met at the Salesian house of Benediktbeuern to discuss the future and challenges of Salesian Youth Ministry. The theme of the meeting was “accepting, trusting, encouraging”.

(ANS – Manta) – The expression “we cannot solve everything” resounds in the hearts of all those who watch the dreadful images of the earthquake in Ecuador. Even though it is not possible to do great things, “we can help in some way”. The post-seism reality is sad and devastating. Mr Marcelo Mejia, the Delegate for Social Communication of the Province of Ecuador, commented on the phone: “I am going to Manta. They asked us to bring masks, because of the sickening smell, due to the dead, the litter, the stagnant water”. We cannot remain indifferent, we must pray, the Pope asked, so that “the help of God and of brethren may give them strength and support”.

(ANS - Rome) - Observing the gestures and words of the Pope in Lesvos, and before that in Lampedusa and on many other occasions, Fr Fabio Attard, Councillor for Salesian Youth Ministry, invites us to approach the phenomenon of migration today not from the point of view of "a threat on the part of those called to share with those who have nothing," but with the understanding of the situation of despair of those who leave "a land that is home to go to a strange land."

  • Brazil – “The young helped me open my heart”

(ANS – São Paulo) – “I was born in Vietnam, in a diocesan parish, and I had the desire to be a priest. I read a biography of Dominic Savio and I loved the priest who had shaped his life. I was impressed by the film on Don Bosco. I said to myself, ‘That is the type of priest I would like to be.’” This is the Vietnamese Salesian missionary Joseph Tran Van Lich.

  • Young people are moving and what do we do?

"We are a traveling species. We have no property, but luggage. (...)
We are alive because we are moving. We are never still.
We are transhumant (...) If you want something to die, leave it alone."

    (Jorge Drexler, Movimiento, 2017)

Young people always move towards unprecedented possibilities, unsuspected futures. But beyond physical mobility and territorial displacement, young people show a great capacity for flux or change and mobilization in current societies, strengthened by new communication technologies, and networks.

  • RMG - The devotion of Pope Paul VI for Mary Help of Christians

(ANS - Rome) - The blessed, and soon Saint, Pope Paul VI was full of benevolence towards the spiritual Sons of Don Bosco. This predilection, exhibited in many circumstances of his life and his pontificate, was also manifested in the devotion to Mary Help of Christians and in the attention to her anniversaries.

“It is she who has done everything!” Don Bosco used to say. Our Holy Mother continues to radiate her motherly tenderness, just as she did today in Beirut. I’ve seen it! From Beirut to Valdocco, our Blessed Lady is always present!
