(ANS - Ho Chi Minh City) - After about 20 hours of flight, Fr Ángel Fernández Artime, Rector Major, and his secretary, Fr Horacio López, reached Ho Chi Minh City about noon, today 20 February. It is a city of 13 million people, of whom 5 million are migrants. His first stop is at the Don Bosco School in Xuan Hiep which has many migrant children among its students.
(ANS - Santiago de Compostela) - The Regional Coordinators of Formation met near the tomb of St James at Santiago de Compostela, Spain, from 13 to 18 February 2017. The purpose of the meeting was to analyse the lines of action required by the 27th General Chapter and the project of the Rector Major for the six-year period.
(ANS - Port-au-Prince) - After the emergency phase following the passage of Hurricane Matthew in October 2016, now is the time to start again. The context is very difficult. Official data report that the hurricane caused 548 deaths, 438 wounded and 128 missing, along with landslides and floods, damage to road infrastructure and buildings, water access problems and damage to electricity services.

April 1, 1934: Don Bosco, father and teacher of youthful holiness, declared saint
On 1 April, 84 years ago, then also Easter, Pope Pius XI proclaimed Saint Don Bosco a saint. Thus ended the long process of beatification and canonization, begun in Turin on 4 June 1890.

(ANS – Budapest) – DBYN’s study session Advocates for Education took place from 8 April until 15 April 2018 in Budapest. 24 participants, 4 trainers and several experts from all over Europe came together to learn and teach about Human Rights based advocacy.
Ghana – A warm welcome, education, fraternal love: Salesian charism in action
(ANS - Accra) - Accra, the capital of Ghana, located on the Gulf of Guinea, is a metropolis of 5 million inhabitants. In its metropolitan area, at Ashaiman, the Salesians animate two houses. The presence of the spiritual Sons of Don Bosco in the country then develops through two other communities, namely in the locality of Sunyani, about 400 km north-west of the capital. In both cities, as well as in the new center of Tatale, the Salesians work at the service of children and young people, especially the most in need.
