(ANS – Turin) – Mary as a missionary disciple, Help of Christians because she is the most direct way to reach Jesus: Fr. Ángel Fernández Artime, Recgor Major of the Salesians, yesterday, May 24th, renewed his personal Marian devotion and the one of the thousands of faithful present in Valdocco on the occasion of the Feast of Mary Help of Christians, recalling the essential traits of the “Mother of Jesus”, who with maternal care always leads back men and women to Her Son.

(ANS – Turin) – “This feast, which every year gathers us at the feet of Mary Help of Christians as the Church of Turin – and therefore as the Christian, but also as the civil community of the city of Turin – is to us the feast of gratitude”. With these words Msgr. Cesare Nosiglia, Archbishop of Turin, commenced his homily on the occasion of the solemn Eucharistic Concelebration he presided over this morning, May 24th, at the Basilica of Mary Help of Christians in Valdocco, Turin.

(ANS - Turin) - The mission of the Church to announce the joy of the Gospel, in relation to the specific mission of the Salesian Family: to announce it to the young people, by helping each of them to do wonders with their own existence. Fr Fabio Attard, Councillor General for the Salesian Youth Ministry, talked about this yesterday, Monday, May 22, at the World Consultative Body of the Salesian Family, which ends today in Turin. Fr Attard intervened, together with Sr Maria Teresa Spiga, a Daughter of Mary Help of Christians and Professor at the “Auxilium” Faculty, on the subject of the next Synod of Bishops: “Youth, faith and discernment”, in particular, by deepening the preparatory document of the Synod.

SPECIAL REPORTS

  • Italy - Carlo Acutis, a model of youthful holiness

(ANS - Milan) - Among the four decrees that Pope Francis authorized to promulgate yesterday, 5 July, there is also one concerning the heroic virtues of Carlo Acutis, (London, 3 May 1991 - Monza, 12 October 2006), a teenager of our time, similar to many others: busy at school, among friends, a computer enthusiast. At the same time he was a great friend of Jesus and entrusted to the Virgin Mary. Reading his biography we can appreciate the perennial validity of Don Bosco's pedagogical intuitions.

MESSAGES OF THE RECTOR MAJOR

  • I HAVE SEEN AND HAVE LIVED DON BOSCO’S MISSIONARY DREAM

My dear friends, I greet you all most cordially as I write this to you – though I am very late as regards preparation of the Salesian Bulletin. (I make the editor sweat because very often the deadline for submission is upon me as I sit down to write my message – which happens with everything else that bears my name and is penned in my own hand.)
