(ANS - New Delhi) - Some important meetings for the Delegates for the Salesian Family (SF) in South Asia were held in September, first in Delhi and then in Hyderabad. They were led by the Delegate of the Rector Major for the Salesian Family, Fr Eusebio Muñoz, the World Delegate for the Salesian Cooperators, Fr Giuseppe Casti, and the Central Assistant for the Volunteers of Don Bosco and Volunteers with Don Bosco (VDB and CDB), Fr Joan Lluis Playa.
(ANS - Managua) - The Fifth Congress of the Devotees of Mary Help of Christians (ADMA) in Central America took place in Nicaragua from 28 September to 1 October. The motto of the congress was “Mary, Mother and Teacher of the Family”. The main objective was to present the renewal of ADMA with special attention to the family, in the light of developments in recent years, and in harmony with the journey of the Church and the Salesian Family.
(ANS -Torre Annunziata) - The Salesian Oratory and Youth Centre in the southern part of the town of Torre Annunziata, a populous town on the outskirts of Naples, has acquired a football field with synthetic grass for their educational, recreational and sporting activities. The inauguration will take place on 19 October.
Sri Lanka - With Don Bosco, different ethnic groups and religions are building a new future together
(ANS - Kurunegala) - Fr Reginold Fernando is a "multitasking" Salesian as we say today: Vicar of the Vice Province of Sri Lanka, Director of the community of Metiyagane and Dean of the Salesian Institute of Civil and Electrical Engineering, in addition to following, at a distance, a major agricultural project aimed at supporting initial formation communities.
Italy - New eyes and new words to see and narrate the banlieues
(ANS - Rome) - The banlieue, inner-city, or periphery as a space, as a dimension, the periphery, above all, as a lively and vital reality, and not simply a catalyst of social problems and degradation. Because "reality is better seen from the periphery," as Pope Francis said, who has brought the theme of the banlieues into the magisterium of the Church. From this point of view, on March 10th, at the Salesian Pontifical University in Rome, a formation course was held entitled: "Narrating the peripheries: positive observations, constructive words."
Argentina - At the oratory we are demonstrating ... that change is possible, Amarrando Redes de Solidaridad
(ANS - Córdoba) - In Argentina the Salesians offer assistance to thousands of children and young people in vulnerable situations. In recent years the Sons of Don Bosco have engaged in a typically Salesian project entitled: "Amarrando Redes de Solidaridad" (Connecting Networks of Solidarity) which, faced with a selfish and individualistic culture, wants to prod open "a new culture of solidarity."
