(ANS - Rome) - On Tuesday 20 November 2019, at the Salesian Pontifical University (UPS), the assembly of the Salesian Historical Institute (ISS) took place, in which the Rector Major, Fr Ángel Fernández Artime took part. On this occasion, participants talked about the current situation of the ISS and the prospects for its future.

(ANS - Lisboa) - Throughout its history the Salesian charism has produced a number of figures of holiness, some among young people, such as Domenico Savio, Laura Vicuña and Ceferino Namuncurà, or Michele Magone, Francesco Besucco and the Portuguese Fernando Caló, a student of the "Oficinas de S. José" institute in Lisbon. Because of the feast of All Saints, both before and after, the Salesian houses of Portugal and Cape Verde celebrated the sanctity of Salesian youth, with spiritual, sports and community initiatives.

(ANS – Huahin) – The Youth Ministry delegates from the provinces of the East Asia-Oceania Region, including also the confreres from the Provincial Delegations of Mongolia, Pakistan and Laos, gathered at the Huahin Salesian Retreat House in Thailand for the EAO YM Delegates’ annual meeting from November 12 until November 17, 2018.

(ANS - Quito) - The Salesian Education Congress, which took place from 13 to 15 November at the Salesian Polytechnical University of Quito, ended with a commitment to continue to reflect and contribute to the pedagogical model that Don Bosco promoted at Valdocco, taking into account the many new challenges that arise in the formation of new and forthcoming generations. Fr Javier Herrán, Rector of the university hosting the event, underscored that the three days were indeed thought-provoking profitable days, in the oratorian style of the 21st century.

(ANS - Montevideo) - The second meeting of the Latin American Missionary Offices began on Thursday, November 15th, in Montevideo, focusing on the theme: "How to connect with the new public efficiently?"

(ANS - Seville) - The Center for Catechetical Studies (CEC, in Spanish), of the Salesians of Seville, celebrated its 50th anniversary last November 10th. The celebratory event took place at the "San Juan Bosco" University College of Seville, and served to give recognition to the 50 years of formation initiatives in the field of catechesis, youth ministry and religious education.

(ANS - Cochabamba) - As part of the five-year program (2017-2021) "Fostering socio-labor insertion through vocational training for beneficiaries in vulnerable situations", financed by the Ministry of Development Cooperation of Belgium, from 5 to November 8, at Cochabamba, a seminar entitled "National Meeting 2018" was held. The event saw the participation of the religious and lay people responsible for the Centers for Vocational Training (CFP), Salesians and the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians, included in the program.

(ANS – Sliema) – On Saturday 3rd November, the Salesian Family in Malta gathered at St. Patrick’s Salesian School for a symposium. This symposium was one of the activities in preparation for the Provincial Chapter which will be held in May 2019, and so in line with the main theme of the Chapter “What kind of Salesian for the youth of today?” the Symposium carried the title “The Salesian Family at the service of youth today”. This was a moment of formation for both Salesians and lay people that work in the mission for youth and so was also in line with the invitation that the Rector Major gives to the Salesians, namely to create programmes of formation for both Salesians and the laity together. 

(ANS - Opatija) - From 29 to 31 October, Mery Bielo, a young participant in "Toma las riendas" (Take the reins, a program of emancipation and empowering of young people promoted by the Salesian Social Platforms of Spain) participated in the Annual Conference of "Eurochild", the network of European organizations working for the promotion and empowerment of children. Invited by the NGO "Don Bosco International", the Salesian Social Platforms were able to present the methodology of this program, through the story of Mery.

(ANS - Bratislava) – Concluding 4 November was the European Seminar of the Association of “Cultori di Storia Salesiana” (ACSSA), scholars of Salesian history, which was held at the "Centrum Salvator" in Bratislava; its aim: to present “Important Salesian Figures between XIX and XX in Europe”, that is, the Salesians (SDB) and Daughters of Mary Help of Christians (FMA), who though differing in formation, culture, habits, contexts of action, whether in a brief or lengthy part of their lives, represented and lived the Salesian mission in a way that was meaningful, innovative, special, or unique.
