The Salesians arrived in Africa (Algeria) in 1891.
In 1893 the FMA also started their activities in Africa with a center in Algeria.

Today in the Africa-Madagascar Region there are:
4 provinces
9 vice-provinces
1,593 confreres
147 novices
10 bishops.
