INTERVIEWS

(ANS - Rome) - Two weeks after the celebrations for Don Bosco's 206th birthday, Fr Gildasio Mendes, General Councilor for Social Communication, proposes a series of articles to deepen the theme of Don Bosco as a communicator of young people. Specifically, Fr Mendes presents a series of articles that revolve around the following theme in an original way: “With Don Bosco in digital and virtual reality”.

(ANS - Les Abymes) - The Salesians have been present in Guadeloupe for a year with two distinct missions: a parish mission in Saint-Luc de Braimbridge, in the town of Les Abymes, a town of 58,500 inhabitants which borders Pointe-à- Pitre, and with the Lakou Bosco association, which helps young people in difficulty. This summer, Fr Lionel Touron, 47, a Salesian of Don Bosco, is on location for a "summer" mission. He described his experience in an interview published by Don Bosco Aujourd'hui.

(ANS - Caracas) - The latest testimony from Venezuela, unfortunately, confirms the local population's extremely weak condition. Msgr. José Ángel Divassón Cilveti, a Salesian, who was Apostolic Vicar in the Amazonian city of Puerto Ayacucho for almost twenty years and who now resides in the country's capital, Caracas, gives voice to the profound unease of these past months.

(ANS - Bukavu) - Bukavu is a populous city in the Democratic Republic of Congo, where Fr Piero Gavioli, a Salesian, 79 years old, of which 55 spent in the African country, resides. Previously, he lived for about forty years in Lubumbashi, where, in addition to leading a parish and teaching in the seminary, he was responsible for the youth ministry of the diocese; and six years in Goma, where he directed a large center consisting of an oratory, a vocational school, an orphanage and shelter for single mothers. He was then sent to Bukavu with five other Salesians to run a small vocational school entrusted to the Sons of Don Bosco by the Xaverian missionaries. “I'm happy because most of the kids finish their courses and find a job,” he says.
