INTERVIEWS

(ANS – Messina) – When it comes to bioethics, Fr Giovanni Russo, SDB, is one of the most authoritative references. The Salesian, a tenured professor in this area, Director of the Theological Institute of St Thomas Aquinas and of the Higher School of Bioethics and Sexology in Messina, which has become a cultural reference point at European level, thanks to his studies in the United States and at the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart in Rome, has the merit of having introduced a new model of bioethics, which advances and arouses interest throughout the world. A few days ago he presented his latest editorial effort, the new manual "Bioethics in Dialogue, Fundamentals and Texts", which he himself describes as "the mature fruit of his over thirty-year commitment". And today he presents it to us.

(ANS - Rome) - He would have had an excellent chance to successfully pursue studies in medicine at university, with a scholarship already prepared for the occasion. Instead - at the end of his Higher Secondary studies - he felt the religious call, became a Salesian... with assignments of increasing responsibility until in 2014 when he was chosen as the 10th successor of Don Bosco, one of the most beloved of saints. Today Fr Ángel Fernández Artime is also a Cardinal of the Holy Roman Church.

ANS – Vatican City) – The Church in Africa is a Church on the move and open to welcoming “cultural differences”: “As the Synodal Family of God in Africa, we are a Church that learns. We do not walk alone: we have things we can learn from others." Thus the African bishops, meeting last March in Addis Ababa, wrote in the final document the desire for a ‘spiritual‘ growth, open to synodality. Starting from these conclusions, Salesian Cardinal Cristóbal López Romero, Archbishop of Rabat, participant in the Synod of Bishops in Rome, tells how the synodal process took place in Morocco.

(ANS – Rome) – At the beginning of October, missionary month, the cycle of interviews with missionaries who were part of the 154th Salesian Missionary Expedition comes to an end. The last to introduce himself is a young Salesian from Vietnam, who already hopes one day to be remembered as a great servant and missionary for the people he is going to serve.
