INTERVIEWS

(ANS – Bruxelles) – An exclusive interview with Nathan Verboomen, one of the world’s high rated FIFA referee, a passionate son of Don Bosco. He was interviewed for Don Bosco Magazine by Tim Bex, and here in this sharing he gives a glimpse about his past as a student, then as a teacher, his busy life as a referee and of course: his bond with Don Bosco. He continues to keep Don Bosco close to his heart, in everything he does.

(ANS - Turin) - Sharing life with the poor, day by day, in villages where there is often no water or light, far from the big cities: this is the precise choice - within which the education of children and young people is obviously grafted - made by the approximately 100 Salesians who live in a dozen communities in the Democratic Republic of Congo. "And we expect to be reinforced in our mission exhibition and vocation by the visit of Pope Francis. Reinforced by a Pope who has his feet on the ground and his heart in heaven. Reinforced by the witness of a man who brings good, who has a sensitivity for the poor that is evangelical, it is the Gospel!" says peremptorily Fr. Daniel Antunez, 63, president of "Missioni Don Bosco."

(ANS - Rome) - Interview with the General Councilor for Social Communication, Fr. Gildasio Mendes. The publication of the series of articles by Fr. Gildasio Mendes, General Councilor for Social Communication, on the theme "Don Bosco and digital and virtual reality" continues. In the contribution proposed today, the Feast Day of St. Francis de Sales, the focus is on the Valdocco Oratory: virtual reality and "immersion," a new way of communicating. On January 24 we celebrate with the whole Church the feast day of St. Francis de Sales, patron saint of Catholic journalists and writers, titular and patron of the Society of St. Francis de Sales. To give even more meaning to this occasion, we interviewed Fr. Gildasio Mendes, General Councilor for Social Communication, who states: "The Bishop of Geneva and Doctor of the Church was one of the great communicators of the Church and of humanity because he knew how to put the person at the center of the human relationship, listening, dialoguing and creating trust in the relationship with people."

(ANS - Turin) - "In almost nine years, much of it spent traveling around the world, visiting missions, I have been able to touch with my own hands the tremendous good that our confreres do, together with the whole Church and so many people of goodwill. I say this without triumphalism: I believe that today we are a serene congregation that can look to the future with hope." Thus Fr. Ángel Fernández Artime, Rector Major of the Salesians, describes, in a few but very clear lines, the present of the religious family that collects and continues Don Bosco's legacy.
