Santa Clara, Cuba - October 2019 - On 7 October, in the parish "Nuestra Señora del Carmen", a mass was celebrated on the eve of the 40th anniversary of the death of the venerable Fr José Vandor. The Eucharist was presided by the Secretary of the Salesian Province of the Antilles (ANT), Fr Wilson Rosario, and concelebrated by Fr Bruno Roccaro, in the presence of a Hungarian delegation, composed of the Salesian Provincial of Hungary (UNG), Fr Béla Ábrahám, the vicar of the Cardinal of Budapest, various priests and members of the Salesian Family. At the end of the Mass, the Hungarian delegation handed over to the city, in the hands of Fr Roccaro, a commemorative plaque with the words: "The hearts of the children of the 'St Stephen King' Province of Hungary are filled with gratitude to commemorate the Salesian priest José Vandor, who, being Hungarian, was able to share the hopes, fears and expectations of the Cuban people. He was a precursor of justice and hope for Cuba, a man of peace and legitimate son of Don Bosco. He honored the Hungarian people in distant lands and he ennobled the Salesian community with his good works."
