Ecuador – March 2024 - There are indigenous peoples on the Amazonian border between Ecuador and Peru who struggle with marginalisation and lack of access to a healthy life. But thanks to the action of the Salesian Province of Ecuador (ECU) and its Planning and Development Office, these populations have received the support of the "humanitarian brigades" of Misión Don Bosco. The first intervention was carried out in Saapapentsa, an Achuar indigenous community located in the province of Morona Santiago, Ecuador, with a population of about 568 inhabitants. Here, for three days, in September 2023, about 200 patients from the Achuar communities of Saapapentsa, Anentak, Mamantsa, Musap, Karakam, Setuch in Ecuador and Yankuntich, Kuna, Chayat in Peru, received medical treatment and underwent a series of medical analyses to detect any pathologies. The second intervention was carried out from 8 to 10 March 2024 in the same communities, with the aim of verifying the health status of the patients treated in 2023 and continuing with the necessary therapies. About 400 people were assisted in this action. These "humanitarian brigades" were supported by the Salesian Community of Wasakentsa, through Fr Diego Clavijo and Fr Enio Estévez; the Ministry of Health of Ecuador, through four medical assistants in the area; Dr. Carlos Tovar, a doctor specializing in tropical diseases, who speaks Achuar; and the University of the Americas (UDLA). The ECU Province expresses its deep gratitude to all the benefactors of the Salesian Family, the Achuar authorities and the medical staff of the health headquarters in the area for what they have done for this mission.

Soyapango, El Salvador - March 2024 – The students at Don Bosco primary school in Soyapango opened their new ecology club, which aims to promote care for the planet. The opening ceremony was chaired by the club's Councillor, Dr Morena Díaz, in collaboration with the school's religion teachers. The event also paid tribute to Mr. Samuel Bonilla, one of the collaborators of the work in the gardening sector, who took part in the ceremony and supported the students in the planting of a small shrub as a symbolic act of commitment to nature. This type of activity is in line with the proposals made in the Overall Provincial Plan (OPP) of the Salesian Province of Central America (CAM) and with an institutional agreement with the Don Bosco Green Alliance.

Hat Yai, Thailand – March 2024 - Thanks to the Superior of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians (FMA) community running the Thidanukhro girls' school in Hat Yai in southern Thailand, a special day of reflection for Burmese immigrant workers in the country was held on Saturday, 23 March. The Principal of the Salesian boys' school in Saeng Thong, Bro Thanad Anan, offered the school chapel as a meeting point. Fr Will Matthews, former Superior of the Australia-Pacific Province (AUL), who grew up in Burma, led the day of reflection with catechism, moments of exchange reconciliation and the Eucharist. It was a pleasant day for all the participants, thanks also to the spiritual support of the sisters and their genuine maternal care. The event was the result of the joint effort of the FMA and the Salesians of Don Bosco in Thailand in support of Burmese migrant workers entrusted to their care. There are many young Burmese workers in Thailand who do their best to achieve a better life and to support their families at home; and those who work with young Burmese migrants can only continue to ask for prayers and support for peace and democracy in their homeland.
