Tura, India – January 2023 - Don Bosco College Higher Secondary Section Tura, Meghalaya, in collaboration with "North Eastern Hill University" (NEHU) Tura Campus, conducted a workshop on Common Universities Entrance Test (CUET) for Students of Class XII from 9th to 12th January 2023. Dr. Binu Mathew, Chairman of College Welfare and Advisory Committee, NEHU, Tura Campus, was the resource person. The workshop was attended by 650 students. Dr. B. Mathew, Chairman of College Welfare and Advisory Committee, NEHU, Tura Campus, animated the students on CUET, and Sr. Marcelina S. Sangma FMA, Head of Auxilium Convent and Auxilium Secondary School Tura, respectively, animated the parents on the importance of parenting in today's context in view of preparing students for the competitive examinations. 400 parents and 650 students participated in the workshop.
Comoro, Dili, East Timor - January 14, 2023 - The Salesians in the Vice-Province of St. Callistus Caravario have just celebrated their second Provincial Chapter (PC) from 09-14 January 2023 at the Audio Visual Room (AVR) of Don Bosco Training Center, Comoro- Dili. There were 30 Salesian priests and brothers with the status of "right to vote'' and "active voice." There were also 8 observers composed of 2 Salesians, one FMA sister, one representative from the Association of the Salesian Cooperators (ASC), one representative from the Association of Mary Help of Christians (ADMA), and one representative from the youth movement (MJS) with "active voice" and without "right to vote." The delegate of Pastoral Ministry, Fr. Nelson Gonçalves, SDB, was not present in the PC due to health reasons, and the representative of the Don Bosco Past Pupils Association was not present in the chapter. The PC was done under the theme "what kind of Salesians for today’s youth?"
Alta Gracia, Argentina - January 2023 – The Salesian work in Alta Gracia, Córdoba, has been carrying out an event since 1942 that has become traditional in the city, called the "Carriage of the Kings." On the night of January 5, the Three Magis parade through the city's central streets with floats inspired by scenes from the Nativity scene, followed by many young people and faithful.
Silvânia, Brazil - January 2023 - From January 9 to 20, the city of Silvânia, in the state of Goiás, will welcome young people from the Salesian provinces "St. John Bosco," "St. Pius X," "St. Dominic Savio," "Our Lady Help of Christians," and "St. Louis Gonzaga," who are part of the "Inter-Provincial Group for Missionary Animation" (GIAM) project. The goal of the initiative is to offer missionary experiences to young people and to bring them closer to the cultural traditions of the region. The project began its activities on Jan. 6 in Brasilia with the reception of the youth. Then it continued with moments of interaction, sharing, prayer, Eucharistic celebrations, and training sessions that reinforced the sense and goal of the mission. On Jan. 9, the youth were divided into groups and sent on a missionary visit to families from more than 30 communities in the "Nosso Senhor do Bomfim" parish in Silvânia.
