Lubumbashi, DR Congo - November 2022 - On Sunday, November 13, the Salesian Family of the Salesian Province of Central Africa (AFC) gathered at the "Salama Technical Institute" in Lubumbashi to celebrate the canonization of St. Artemide Zatti. On this occasion, all Salesian Coadjutors living in the area were celebrated and honored. Br. Cyprien Bwangi, SDB, who was present in St. Peter's Square on the day of the canonization, gave a talk on the life of the Patagonian nurse saint and also offered a beautiful testimony about his vocation as a Salesian Coadjutor. Afterward, Fr. Tryphon Kalimira, Vicar of the AFC Province, presided over the Eucharist, inviting those present to invoke the intercession of St. Artemide Zatti so that peace may reign in the country. The celebration was then enlivened by the two choirs of the higher Salesian  Institutes of the province, the School of Political and Economic Governance (ECOPO in French) and the School of Salama Information Technology  (ESIS in French). The celebration in honor of St. Artemide Zatti was attended by a total of nearly 1,000 people, including Salesians, Daughters of Mary Help of Christians, Salesian Cooperators, the youth of the Salesian Youth Movement, and many other supporters of the Salesian Family.

Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam - November 2022 - Aspirants of the "Don Bosco Xuan Hiep" community welcomed the General Councilor for Youth Ministry, Fr. Miguel Angel García Morcuende, last November 6. The General Councilor celebrated Mass at the monthly aspirants' retreat, which was attended by some young Theology students and 65 aspirants from the Xuan Hiep community. In his homily, Fr. García Morcuende urged the aspirants to learn from the example of holiness offered daily by the Salesians and always be good Christians and upstanding citizens. Referring to the words of Don Bosco, he then reminded them that being a saint means doing one's duty with joy. At the end of the meeting, the General Counselor for Youth Ministry said he was impressed by the cheerfulness, courage and dynamism of the aspirants in Vietnam and urged them to always live their study and apostolate with enthusiasm.

Batulao, Philippines - November 2022 - The regional meeting of Provincial Delegates for Mission Animation (DIAM) for the East Asia-Oceania Region was held Nov. 10-12 in Batulao, Philippines. It was the first regional meeting since 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The Delegates, led by Fr. Alfred Maravilla, General Councilor for Missions, and Fr. George Menamparampil, collaborator of the Missions Sector, reviewed their role as the province's "missionary sentinel" to keep the missionary spirit alive among Salesians and all members of the Pastoral Education Community. The meeting was also an opportunity to recognize the importance of networking with other Provincial Delegates (Youth Ministry, Formation, Social Communication) and share their experiences on Salesian Missionary Volunteering. Some Provinces in the Region have a long experience in the volunteer movement, while others are just starting it. Also, Fr. Arun Charles from the Cambodia Delegation began his role as Regional Coordinator for Mission Animation. The meeting concluded with some folkloric presentations prepared by the youth of the "Don Bosco Batulao" Youth Center.

Falealupo, Samoa - November 2022 - On the eve of the first celebration of Br. Artemide Zatti as a new canonized saint last Nov. 12, the Salesians in Samoa gave praise to God with the priestly ordination of Fr. Atonio Lealea at their parish church in Falealupo on Savai'i Island in Samoa. Atonio was ordained a priest by the laying on of hands and consecratory prayer of Msgr. Alapati Lui Mata'eliga, Archbishop of Samoa-Apia. The day following his ordination, Fr. Atonio celebrated the Mass of Thanksgiving in conjunction with the feast of St. Artemide Zatti at his local parish church in the presence of many families, friends, and religious. Also on Monday, Nov. 14, Fr. Atonio celebrated a special Mass in the Salelologa community to celebrate St. Artemide Zatti and to thank the whole community for their great support.
