Petén, Guatemala - August 2022 - With the participation of more than 180 youth, the Salesian Youth Movement of Guatemala joyfully celebrated Camp Bosco 2022 on August 13 and 14. With much emotion and enthusiasm, young people from the different Salesian presences (San Pedro Carchá, Quetzaltenango, San Benito Petén, La Divina Providencia, Sagrado Corazón, Parroquia del Espíritu Santo) gathered to thank God and Don Bosco for the Salesian charism in Guatemala. Moments of animation, formation on the Apostolic Exhortation Christus Vivit, and Salesian Youth Spirituality characterized the days of this meeting. In the end, the young people participated in the two beautiful sacraments that Don Bosco advised his young people to experience: Confession and the Eucharist.

Italy - ADMA's Spiritual Exercises

Gressoney, Italy - August 2022 - The Spiritual Exercises of families animated by the Association of Mary Help of Christians (ADMA) Primary of Turin have recently concluded. The retreat, which for the first time was held in the alpine living room "Casa Gino Pistoni" in Gressoney, Valle d'Aosta, gathered almost 300 people in the period between Sunday, July 31 and Friday, August 12. Fr. Alejandro Guevara Rodriguez and Fr. Roberti Carelli took turns leading the catechesis and moments of sharing. It was an all-around family experience: the main protagonists are families who gather together to live these days with intensity and do exercises to renew their personal, family, ecclesial and associative spiritual life. The days are marked by intense moments of catechesis, reflection, and prayer. One experiences the joy of walking together and sharing the journey of faith centering one's life in Jesus Eucharist and entrusted to Mary Help of Christians. Meanwhile, while the parents lived the experience of the Spiritual Exercises, the young people, under the guidance of the animators, spent days with distinct and well-maintained paths of play, prayer, and formation.

The goal of the course was to equip prenovices with the skills needed to convey the core values of the congregation to young people effectively.

Seoul, South Korea - August 2022 - The 17th Provincial Chapter has been held at the provincial house of the Salesian society of Korea from August 15 to 20, 2022. This Provincial Chapter was attended by 32 delegates, 3 observers and 6 novices (with 1 Assistant). The Provincial Chapter began with the liturgical opening prayer and an opening lecture. During the opening liturgy, the delegates watched a video of RM, Fr. Ángel Fernández Artime, explaining the spirit of the 28th General Chapter. And then, Fr. Yang Seung-guk Stefano, who was in charge of the opening lecture as a former provincial of the Korean province, asked the delegates to have a time of ‘pausing,’ ‘looking,’ and ‘listening’ in this Provincial Chapter. He also said that the biggest threat to the Salesians in this era is ‘Lack of Salesian identity’ or ‘Ambiguous identity' and emphasized that ‘Salesian confreres must live in one place, one spirit, and one goal.’ At the first meeting of the Provincial Chapter, which started in earnest, the delegates first had time to examine the implementation of the resolutions of the last ‘16th Provincial Chapter’ and to diagnose the reality of the Korean Province. The Provincial, Choi Won-cheol Timothy, introduced the journey that the Korean province has walked over the past three years and the pending issues that the delegates have to pay special attention to. The whole attendance then listened to the explanation and diagnosis of the delegates of each commission to check if the resolutions of the last 16th Provincial Chapter have been implemented well so far, which interpreted the decisions of the 28th General Chapter according to the reality of the Korean province. The provincial Fr Timothy Choi, above all, invited the delegates to make proposals and plans through the 17th Provincial Chapter, which could incarnate God's will more effectively while carrying out the mission suitable for the reality of this time. In the post-COVID 19 era, the Korean provincial is facing major challenges in various aspects. In the rapid change of dynamic Korean society, Salesian youth ministries also need a lot of change. Accordingly, the Salesian confreres of Korea recognize a lot of urgencies to reconstruct the youth ministry centering on the vital one. This provincial chapter is a time for all confreres to pray that the delegates representing the province will be filled with God's wisdom for this is a conference that deals with many delicate issues. It is also a time to pray that the grace of the Holy Spirit and the intercession of Mary Help of Christians would be with us so that God's providence is able to be accomplished through the Provincial Chapter.
