Kabwe, Zambia – August 2022 – On 6 August 2022, Feast of Transfiguration, in the ZMB Novitiate of Kabwe in Zambia, dedicated to Bl. A. Zatti, 22 young men (14 from ZMB and 8 from AFC) expressed their free will to be Salesians of Don Bosco, before the ZMB Provincial Superior Fr. Christopher Rychcik, who presided over the Mass, and Fr. Guillermo Basanes, AFC Provincial. For ZMB Vice-Province – composed of Zambia, Malawi, Zimbabwe, and Namibia – which this year celebrates the 40th anniversary since the arrival of the first Salesian missionaries for “Project Africa”, it was a great sign of growth and Motherly protection of Mary Help of Christians, who also is the patroness of ZMB. The new Salesians came from: Zambia (7), Malawi (4), Zimbabwe (2), Namibia (1), Democratic Republic of Congo (8). Four of them decided to be Salesian Brothers (Coadjutors). During the celebrations, the preacher, Fr. Basañes, touched on the 3 birthdays on the Salesian tomb. First, the actual human birth of the confrere. The second birth, that of the first profession, is when one is born in the Congregation. And the last, when a confrere is finally born in the Kingdom of Heaven.

Hua Hin, Thailand – August 2022 – From 1-4 August 2022, the Salesian Province of St. Paul composed of Thailand, Cambodia, and the People's Republic of Laos, held the Provincial Chapter 2022 at the Salesian Retreat House, Hua Hin. 36 Salesians were present at this important meeting together with 12 lay observers, who came from the various lay movements in the Salesian Family, namely, the Salesian Cooperators, representatives from the ADMA group, representatives from the teachers, representatives from the alumni and alumnae, and representatives from the young. Fr. Banchong Santisukniran, the moderator of the Provincial Chapter, was the main celebrant at the Eucharistic celebration on 1 August 2022; he implored the light of the Holy Spirit to discern together the will of God. Then, Fr. Dheparat Pitisant, the Provincial, presented the report of the “State of the Province” and the People's Republic of Laos. The report on the situation of the delegation of Cambodia was presented by Fr. Roel Soto, the head of the Cambodia delegation.

Buenos Aires, Argentina - July 2022 - The annual seminar of the Argentine section of the Association of Salesian History Scholars (ACSSA) was recently held in Buenos Aires in the Salesian House of Almagro. The seminar focused on the preparation of studies and research in view of the 150th anniversary of the arrival of the First Salesian Missionary Expedition to America. The event, which was formative, included two papers. The first, by Dr. José Emilio Burucúa, is entitled, "Missionary Photographs of Salesian Action in Argentina. Socio-anthropological clues in the composition and expressiveness of the subjects photographed"; the second, by Dr. María Andrea Nicoletti, related to "Keys to the historical reading of the Salesian presence in Argentina." Each presentation was followed by a dialogue and debate session on the participants' contributions.

Los Teques, Venezuela - Aug. 2022 - On Saturday, Aug. 6, at "St. John Bosco" parish in Los Teques, the bishop of the Diocese of Guasdualito, Msgr. Pablo Modesto González Pérez, ordained Salesian deacon Juan Luis Arveláez to the priesthood. The ceremony was attended by several Salesians from the "St. Luke" Province of Venezuela and a large group of the Salesian Family.
