Madrid, Spain - July 2022 - On July 6, the "Allies for Integration Foundation" presented awards to companies, entities, and individuals who share the core values of social inclusion and contribute to building a better, fairer, and more equitable society. In the "Best Integration Initiative" category, the award went to the Salesians of the "Spain-Saint James the Greater" (SSM) Province, in recognition of their "Abriendo Puertas" (Opening Doors) program. The program represents a practical example of solidarity focused on providing opportunities to those who need them most. This initiative, which emerged after the complications caused by the pandemic for the more than 13,000 children and youth cared for by the Salesian SSM Province, aims to cover the basic needs of families in vulnerable situations, promote training and job placement programs for youth, and strengthen educational plans for children and adolescents. The award was collected by Fr. Samuel Segura, SSM Provincial Vicar, and Fr. Jose Antonio Hernández, Salesian Family Delegate.
Goma, D.R. Congo - July 2022 - Twenty-five Salesians from seven communities and presences of the "St. Joseph" Delegation, AFC-EST, participated in the annual retreat held July 3-9 at the "Gennesaret" Retreat Center of the Pallottine community of Kyeshero. The exercises were led by Fr. Georges Kozuch, Pallottine, on the theme "The Figure of St. Francis de Sales." The Provincial of the Central Africa Province (AFC), Fr. Guillermo Basañes, attended the opening of the retreat as part of his service of pastoral care and accompaniment to the Salesian Delegation.
Zapote, Costa Rica - July 2022 - On Saturday, July 2, the Salesians of Zapote inaugurated a new festive oratory that will benefit children and youth in the communities surrounding the educational center. The initiative was undertaken to mark 125 years of Salesian presence in Costa Rica and the 400th anniversary of St. Francis de Sales' ascension to heaven. The working group, composed of students, staff members, and alumni of the institution, animated the first welcoming experience. The event began with a welcome to the new Oratorians and continued with the words of Fr. Laurens Torres Artavia, Rector of the "Salesian Don Bosco" center, and the ribbon-cutting that officially inaugurated the "St. Francis de Sales Festive Oratory." Afterward, there were various group dynamics led by the assistants, a snack, and a time of reflection that concluded the first day. For the future, plans are for activities to take place on weekends, both in the "Salesian Don Bosco" facilities and in the parish of Zapote.

Bangalore, India – luglio 2022 – Dopo una pausa dovuta alla pandemia, Coordinatori e Delegati dei Salesiani Cooperatori (SSCC) dell’Ispettoria di Bangalore si sono riuniti presso il centro “Don Bosco Vaduthala” di Kochi, il 9 luglio. L’obiettivo dell’incontro è stato valutare l’identità e i ruoli dei SSCC negli ultimi tre anni e guardare al futuro con rinnovata vitalità e chiarezza. Il sig. CJ Joseph, coordinatore provinciale SSCC, insieme a don Gilbert Choondal SDB, Delegato Ispettoriale per i SSCC dell’Ispettoria di Bangalore (INK), hanno programmato la giornata a cui hanno partecipato 35 SSCC provenienti da vari centri locali, coordinatori, delegati SDB e FMA e consiglieri provinciali degli Stati del Kerala e del Karnataka. “Rivisitare l’identità e i ruoli dei Salesiani Cooperatori era una necessità in questo momento per rivitalizzare i centri e condividere alcune politiche comuni, a vantaggio della nostra missione nella Famiglia Salesiana”, ha affermato don Choondal nel suo intervento. Il Consigliere Mondiale dei SSCC della regione Asia Sud, sig. Amali Antuvan, si è soffermato sulla governance dei SSCC, e un altro momento saliente è stato quello delle condivisioni sullo stato passato e presente dei centri locali.
