Manouba, Tunisia – March 2024 – The first Provincial Chapter of the St Augustine Special Circumscription of North Africa (CNA) began on 19 March at the Salesian community in Manouba, based on the GC29 theme: "PASSIONATE ABOUT JESUS CHRIST, DEDICATED TO YOUNG PEOPLE. Living our Salesian vocation faithfully and prophetically.“ The Provincial Chapter began with a retreat led by Fr Damians I Belart Alexandre, focusing on the importance of personal prayer. Then Salesian Cardinal Cristóbal López Romero, Archbishop of Rabat, spoke, underlining the opportunity for the Salesians of CNA, through the Provincial Chapter, to build, as a priority, that bridge between Muslims and Christians that remains a challenge in the Maghreb, highlighting fraternal unity and integration among churches. And above all, Cardinal López Romero continued, the Salesians must not forget their mission to be signs and bearers of God's love for young people. For his part, Fr Domenico Paternò, Superior of the CNA, in his opening address stressed that it is a grace to already have the Provincial Chapter after a few months of life of the Circumscription (28 August 2023), since it is a moment of communion and synodality. Fr Paternò invited his confreres to be active and participatory in making important decisions for the Provincial Community, and to dream of works in favour of poor young people. The Chapter members are divided into three commissions.
