Poland - A Volunteer’s Diary. Day Four and Five.

25 July 2016

(ANS - Krakow) - The fourth and fifth day of preparation for World Youth Day and the feast of the Salesian Youth Movement.

Volunteers in Łosiówka have finished preparing the places to sleep and have cleared the land around the house. They have set up the restaurant booth where meals will be served and they have prepared packages for priests. The team responsible for welcoming groups of pilgrims has prepared the necessary material for them.  We have also started to decorate our local offices, we have fixed the infirmary and continued the preparation work for the SYM Forum.

The people responsible for media coverage have taken initiatives to improve communication for information about what is happening with the Salesians in Krakow. Maps have been prepared showing the access roads to the accommodation places. Plans have been launched to mobilize the Salesian youth that come to Poland from different parts of the world, by sending maps of their itinerary marked with the official hashtag: #sym2016 and #krakow2016.

For the volunteers, the fifth day was marked by the arrival of the first pilgrims.

The fruits of the good work of the Salesian Youth Movement can be seen in the smiles and the enjoyment of pilgrims from around the world. There was also the Eucharist and the Way of the Cross at the Shrine of Divine Mercy and the special presentation of the image of the Merciful Jesus, made up of the images of thousands of people.
