RMG - Visit of the Rector Major to Germany

25 November 2016

(ANS - Rome) – It is just a few months since the Rector Major’s first visit to Germany last June for the start of the celebrations for the centenary of the Salesian presence there. Now Fr Ángel Fernández Artime is preparing to go again. From tomorrow, Saturday 26 November, until next Wednesday, he will be busy meeting and getting to know the confreres, the Salesian Family, benefactors, friends, supporters and collaborators of the Salesian work in Germany.

On the first day of his visit, after a brief stop at the Provincial House in Munich, the Rector Major will travel to Benediktbeuern where he will get to know the activities carried out by the Salesians of the house. He will spend an evening of celebration with young people, giving them some inputs to prepare for Advent.

On Sunday he will celebrate Mass for the first Sunday of Advent. He will then return to Munich for the usual meeting with the Salesians. In the evening he will take part in the festive gathering with the Salesian Family and friends of the Salesian work.

Monday will be dedicated to more formal meetings: in the morning with the Provincial Council, in the afternoon with the Rectors and managers, Salesians and lay people of the various works of the province.

On Tuesday the Tenth Successor of Don Bosco will get to know in detail the situation and the work of the Salesians in Monaco, with a brief visit to the provincial house of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians, before going by train to Bonn.

There will be two main events on the last day: the meeting with the staff of the Salesian Mission Office (Don Bosco Mission) and Salesian NGOs (Don-Bosco-World, Jugendhilfe weltweit Beromünster) and Mass with Salesians, staff and guests  at which Bishop Stefan Oster, SDB of Passau will concelebrate.
