RMG -Presentation of the STRENNA for 2017

28 December 2016

(ANS - Rome) - For the Salesian Family 2017 will be a year dedicated to a journey together with the motto "We are Family." The Rector Major, Fr Ángel Fernández Artime officially presented the Strenna at the Generalate of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians, accompanied by Fr Filiberto González, Councillor for Social Communication, and other Salesian members of the Generalate of the Salesians.

In the auditorium of the Generalate Fr Ángel Fernández Artime met Mother Yvonne Reungoat together with a large representation of the FMA, and some members of the Salesian Family. To all those present, the successor of Don Bosco, presented the theme and structure of the Strenna for 2017 expressed in the now well-known slogan: "We are family. Every home, a school of Life and Love.”

In this his third Strenna, the Rector Major highlighted some aspects: The Family is fertile soil only if there is welcome, respect and enthusiasm that overcomes the difficulties. It includes people of different ages and varied customs, in faraway countries. Pain, disability, different cultures ... The Family is diversity that makes union of hearts. It means looking for enrichment in the many differences, and discovering that it is at its most complete and happiest when the journey is made together.

After some time for the responses of those present and for questions put to Fr Á.F. Artime, the evening ended with a greeting from Mother Reungoat and a moment of Salesian conviviality.

The full text of the commentary on the Strenna (in Italian, Spanish and French) is available on sdb.org.
