Peru - Sol Bosco in 2017: the joy of belonging to the Salesian Oratory

02 February 2017

(ANS - Lima) - Lima has about 10 million inhabitants. According to the latest studies it is one of the most chaotic and busiest cities and according to the World Health Organization it is one of the ten most polluted cities in Latin America. One of the areas where the Salesians work is the Breña district, where there is a Shrine dedicated to Mary Help of Christians. The Salesian work of Brena has a parish where "Sol Bosco” takes place each year.

Starting from 2017, the work with children and young people has been launched through the experience called "Sol Bosco." It started with the young people of the parish of Mary Help of Christians who go from house to house in the streets of Brena announcing the beginning of this new opportunity. As a result, about 100 children and teenagers of the area are registered as participants.

During the summer holidays the oratory of Brena opens its doors to young people so that they can participate in this experience, which offers recreational disciplines: guitar courses and "mini-chefs", martial arts, football, volleyball, basketball, handicrafts, traditional dance and modern dance.

Through "Sol Bosco" they try to offer a space for integration and healthy entertainment for all children and young people, with the possibility of developing skills and expertise in various disciplines.

What is most important is to give to hundreds of young people a smile, because "Sol Bosco" gives them the opportunity to be happy doing what they like. The most important aspect is the fact that theworkshops are offered by the young people of the Salesian Youth Movement in Brena.
