Myanmar – Angels in Yellow, second time in Anisakan

(ANS – Anisakan) – Last February 12th was a wonderful for the people of Anisakan. 41 Koreans who are members of the (MGU: Members of Global Union) medical team came for the second time to Anisakan to give medical care for all the people in need. 

Domenic Savio Hall of Nazareth Seminary was transformed into a clinic and the stage into an operation theatre. Salesians didn’t need to do much advertisement for the medical group as this is the second time that they are coming to Anisakan.

From 13th till 17th February they gave medical treatment to some 2000 patients who suffer from various kinds of illness. Patients were given medication, some for three months, others even for six months, and all free of charge. They did minor operation on many patients too. They also gave dental care to many patients and for many of them it was the first time in their life to see a dentist.

Salesians, FMA postulants and religious and youth from Anisakan and Pyin Oo Lwin did their best to translate from Burmese to English. There were some 20 translators who came and gave their generous service for the poor sick people.

Fr. John Jeon Bok Nam SDB (KOR), together with his Youth Volunteer group, went around Anisakan village and distributed rice to the poorest families and cleaned the environment of the mosquitoes with the mosquito killer sprays. In addition, they painted the guest house of the seminary which never looked so neat and tidy as it is now.

From 8.00 in the morning till 6.00 in the evening, they all served the people with a radiating smile on their face. Some even skipped their lunch so as to give treatment to as many patients as possible. They all wore a yellow shirt while giving service to the people. All the people of Anisakan have seen in them “Angels in Yellow”.
