Germany – More than 200 guests at annual event for founders, supporters and donors

10 May 2018

(ANS – Benediktbeuern) – Over 200 guests came together to the annual “Stifterfest” for founders, donors and friends of the Salesians Don Bosco in Germany. They came together to Benediktbeuern, in Bavaria, for the annual “Stifterfest”, an event to thank everyone, get together and provide information about the work of the Salesians Don Bosco.

The festivity began on Friday, April 20, in the evening, with a talk from Brother Lothar Wagner, who told the guests about his work in Gambia. He spoke about the fight against Ebola, working with children in prison, and also about the strategical thoughts, that are necessary to engage in the most effective way.

On following Saturday children from the circus Birkino, a project of the Salesians Don Bosco in Chemnitz, entertained the guests. Former volunteer Veronika Hein talked about her time and work in Benin. “You cannot change the world, but you can be there for people”, was her conclusion. The executives of the foundation centre, Philipp Hof, and of Don Bosco Mission, Dr. Nelson Penedo, talked with founder Theodor Gams about how the money of the benefactors is spent in a way that satisfies all involved parties the best way possible – with strategy, stability and a clear policy that profits young people.

Another highlight was an honourable thanks to P. Herbert Bihlmayer for the great merit he provided as “driving force and father of the foundation centre”. New founders were honoured with the “Don Bosco medal”. And Phillip Hof presented the facts about the asset growth of the centre  so in future there will be a great basis to help and support young people in the spirit of Don Bosco.
