Vatican – Fr Quijano Rodríguez, SDB, new Apostolic Vicar of Pucallpa

(ANS - Vatican City) - In accepting the renunciation of the pastoral government of the Apostolic Vicariate of Pucallpa, in Peru, presented by Msgr. Gaetano Galbusera Fumagalli, SDB, the Holy Father Francis appointed Fr Augusto Martín Quijano Rodríguez, SDB, as new Apostolic Vicar; until now he was Counselor and Delegate for the Missions of the Peru Province.

Fr Quijano Rodríguez was born in Aija, Peru, on 7 March 1969. He studied Philosophy in Lima (1992-1993) and Theology in Santiago, Chile (1994-1998). He made his perpetual profession on 31 January 1995 in Lima, and was ordained a priest, also in Lima, on November 22, 1997.

After his priestly ordination, he was a Councilor (1998-2000) and then Vicar (2000-2001) of the community "San Juan Bosco" of Rimac, Lima; he then served at Quebrada Honda from 2001 to 2008 in various roles as Parish Priest, Economer and Director; he was Director and Economer of the San Francisco de Sales community in Lima (2008-2010); then held the positions of Director and Economer in the Salesian house of Monte Salvado; from 2016 he has been the Director at the San Lorenzo house.

In the “Santa Rosa” Province of Peru, he was on several occasions a Delegate for the Missions and for Missionary Animation.
